get: is a very general term and may OR may not imply effort or initiative: ~ a car for my birthday.


obtain: suggests the attainment of something sought for with some expenditure of time and effort: ~ statements from all of the witnesses.  (seek: 很努力寻找或谋求,如ICQ: I seek you. The prosecutors warned they would seek the death penalty检方律师警告说他们会努力争取判处死刑。)


procure: implies effort in obtaining something for oneself or for another: in charge of ~ing supplies for the office.


secure: implies difficulty in obtaining or keeping safely in one's possession or under one's control: an ad agency that ~ many top accounts. (account这里表示固定客户主顾,多指公司客户won  many accounts  i n  China在中国赢得很多固定客户 )


acquire: often suggests an adding to what is already possessed: ~ a greater appreciation of music. （注: acquire较通用,不一定通过逐渐增加(add to what is already possessed)，如AIDS艾滋中的acquired）


gain: suggests struggle or competition and usually a material value in the thing obtained: gradually ~ a reputation as a skilled musician.  （struggle斗争挣扎，用它说明gain的困难痛苦==>No pains, no gains不劳无获）


win: suggests that favoring qualities or circumstances played a part in the gaining: ~ the admiration of his fellow actors.


earn: implies a correspondence between one's one's effort and what one gets by it: a compelling performance that ~ her many awards. (compelling使人不得不信服认可，~ argument令人信服的论证。compel: 逼迫某人)


get得到: 非常通用,无论是否努力主动，obtain获得: 花费时间功夫获得努力谋求的东西，procure为某人获取: 强调为某人(自己或别人)获取获得，secure获得维系: 表示困难地获得或维系，acquire获得: 常表示在已有基础上增加(即逐渐)，gain努力获得: 表示艰难困苦和激烈竞争, 常表示收获实际价值(material value物质利益,表示实际看得到模得着,和精神对立)，win赢得: 具备优点优势又努力奋斗从而获得（如w onher love赢得爱意），earn也是赢得: 表示付出和收获相应(correspond相应: 不同元素间相互匹配补充呼应match,complement,answer to each other)。


记忆方法: 1）首字母GOPSAGWE把gop想成got的特殊形式(inflection)，重组成WE GOP GAS: 我们GOT了天然气<==获得天然气


         2）得到的意思是开始拥有mean to come into possession of.
